Soon after completing his education, David moved to Kentucky. Once settled in the State of Kentucky, David applied for a job with the U.S. Postal Service in Lexington. He served there as a mail handler from 1992-2005. In 1999, the Branch President of Local 304 Mail Handlers asked David to become the union representative. David gladly accepted the position.
In 2001, Gov. Paul Patton appointed Mr. Wylie to be on the Commission of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. He served from 2001-2004. After 2004 David volunteered his services for one year. While serving on the Commission of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing the Kentucky Association of the Deaf appointed him as Vice President of their association. David served as Vice President until 2005.
